Collections

As shown in the figure below, a large majority of our collections derive from field trips or expeditions associated with institutional projects under way at the JBCVCSIC. However, we also receive a substantial number of samples from other institutions from the Canaries (notably the Dirección General de Biodiversidad del Gobierno de Canarias and the Jardín de Aclimatación de la Orotava - ICIA), from other Macaronesian archipelagos (i.e., through our collaboration with the INIDA from Cape Verde and the DNA banks of Madeiran and Açorean flora, respectively in the Jardím Botânico da Madeira and the Universidade dos Açores in Ponta Delgada), from mainland Spain (especially the Botanical Gardens in the Asociación Íbero-Macaronésica de Jardines Botánicos), and from several other international institutions.
